1. General Rules
A. These Rules applies to all International Students enrolling in Sun Moon University.
2. Classification
A. The international students are classified into 3 groups:
I. Language Institute Students,
II. Undergraduate Students,
III. Graduate Students.
3. Management
A. Various offices have been put in place to assist International Students and facilitate their smooth transit to Korea. E.g. consultation regarding life in Korea, academic life and many more.
① Language Institute Students: Korean Language Institute Office
② Undergraduate Students: Global Affairs Team, Office of International Affairs
③ Graduate Students: Office of the Graduate Schools
4. Medical Insurance
All International students enrolling in Sun Moon University are required to have or apply for a Medical Insurance.
The objective of the Medical Insurance is to cover the expensive medical costs incurred for various health related expenses and including prescription drugs, and lets the students pay a smaller portion of the full price.
The students will be required to pay a specific amount either on a monthly or on a yearly basis. The fee is generally paid in advance to the insurance provider for future coverage benefits.
5. Language Proficiency
A. The goal for the Undergraduate Course for International Students is to obtain TOPIK level 4. Therefore, we offer special programs to help our international students increase their Korean language proficiency. Global Affairs Team offers the programs below:
1) Global School
2) TOPIK Level 4 and Extracurricular Korean classes
B. Global School
1) The Korean students enrolling at Sun Moon University can become a Global School Coach by applying at the Global Affairs Team, and after being selected, they will start a training course to become a ‘Study Coach’.
2) The International Students who wish to participate in Global School must submit their application form to the Global Affairs Team and afterwards will be assigned a Korean Coach.
3) International Students who wish to attend a TOPIK level 4 Night class must submit an application form at the Global Affairs Team.
6. International Student Council
A. To promote friendship and solidify our emergency contact system for the International Students, we ‘ve created and support the following International Students Associations:
1) Japanese Students Association
2) Chinese Students Association
3) International Students Association
4) African Students Association
B. Each International Student Association is operated by a structured group of international students, that will manage everything within the group.
※ Each association must see to it that the received financial and Administrative support are properly handled.
7. School Registration
A. The University’s registration regulations are equally applied to Korean students as well.
B. Registration
1) International Students must complete the registration within the designated time period.
C. Break from School
1) At the time the International student decides to apply for a break from school, the student must submit the application after following all the procedures required by the office responsible.
D. Returning to school
1) In order for the International student to apply for a VISA as a Returning Student, he/she must send a notice to the School before returning.
8. Part-time Jobs
A. The International student who wishes to apply for on-campus work must apply at the Students Support Team (In charge of selecting and assigning a place to work).
B. The International student who wishes to apply for off-campus work must fill in an application form for the qualification for off-campus activities from the International Student’s Office, and can only continue with their off-campus work after they receive a permission.
9. Off Campus Activities
A. The International Students cannot take part in any political activities such as: gatherings, deliberations or proceedings of any International or National political group.
B. However, the International students have the right of freedom of religion under the constitution of the Republic of Korea.
10. GKS Scholarship Students’ support and management will be handled separately.
11. The Islamic Student’s Living conditions will be managed and supported by the
Sun Moon Center for Islamic Studies’s assistance.
